Tips for Studying Engineering Abroad

  • As an Engineering student you CAN learn abroad if you start planning early. Complete Learning Abroad 101, connect with your academic advisor, and speak to a Learning Abroad coordinator during your freshman year.
  • Most upper-division courses in Engineering must be taken on campus, so plan on learning abroad during the summer or before your junior year.
  • Exchange programs are great because they cost the same as tuition at the U and offer courses that let you stay on track to graduate.

Exchange Programs

The University of Utah collaborates with over 30 universities worldwide to allow students to enroll abroad for a semester or academic year and choose from a variety of programs of study.

Affiliate Programs

As a U of U student, you can learn abroad through third-party affiliate programs to participate in general or major-specific programs while earning credit toward your degree. These affiliate programs offer housing, visa, and counseling support as well as cultural excursions.
