Today’s Lunch Lunch With an Engineer is Full

Andy Gilbert is a part of the cardiovascular ultrasound R&D team in GE Healthcare and a PhD student at the University of Oslo. His research broadly focuses on developing machine learning solutions for robust extraction of anatomical, pathological and physiological features from cardiac ultrasound images. This involves training neural networks to understand the functioning of the heart from ultrasound images and visualize features relevant for clinical diagnosis. Through his work with GE, these algorithms are directly implemented in ultrasound scanners and the diagnostic pipeline used by physicians across the world.
