Meet With My Major


Welcome to the College of Engineering! We are excited to have you join us at the U! Before meeting with an advisor to discuss your first semester classes, please first complete your general Orientation module. You will be given access to your Orientation module during the week you signed up for Orientation. After this, you will follow the steps based on your major below.

In addition to the general Orientation modules, student will need to complete Biomedical specific modules prior to meeting with their academic advisor.

Please email any BME advisor to gain access to the Biomedical modules:

Students will need to complete their general Orientation and a Chemical Engineering module prior to meeting with their advisor. If you indicated interest in Chemical Engineering during Orientation, you should have received an email from Megan McAllister inviting you to the Chemical Engineering Module and directing you how to make an appointment.

If you have changed your major to Chemical Engineering or cannot find her email, please email advisor Megan McAllister at megan.mcallister@utah.edu to gain access to the CHEME module.

In addition to completing the general Orientation modules, students will need to complete a department specific Canvas module and then meet with an academic advisor.

Join the Civil & Environmental Engineering Orientation Module. If you have not done so already, you will be instructed how to make an appointment with your advisor at the end of the module.

You should have received an email to your umail with instructions on how to access the Computer Science/Data Science canvas course. If recently decided on majoring in Computer/Data Science or cannot locate the email that was sent from your CS advisors instructing you on next steps, please email ugrad-help@cs.utah.edu to gain access to the Orientation modules. Upon completing your Computer Science/Data Science Orientation module, you will be informed on how to make an appointment with your advisor.”

Please sign up for a session or schedule an appointment after you have received an email from the Advising Office (MEUndergrad@utah.edu) instructing you that it is time for you to sign-up for a session. This will happen after you have signed up for and have had time to complete the University Orientation (the online University Canvas modules).

First-year and Transfer Students can sign up for Live Sessions here.

If you have questions, cannot find the email from your Mechanical advisor, or cannot attend a live session, email MEUndergrad@utah.edu and one of our three Mechanical Advisors will respond to you!

Engineering Orientation Panels

Every month of Orientation, the College of Engineering will be hosting virtual, live panels with current College of Engineering Students and Faculty. These popular panels are a great place for you to get your questions answered about getting involved, doing research, how to be a successful COE student and so much more! All incoming students are welcome to attend!
