Meet With My Major


Welcome to the College of Engineering! We are excited to have you join us at the U! Before meeting with an advisor to discuss your first semester classes, please first complete your general Orientation module. After this, you will follow the steps based on your major below.

In addition to the general Orientation module, students will need to complete the a Biomedical specific module prior to meeting with their academic advisor. You can join the Biomedical Canvas Module by clicking here:

After you have completed the general Orientation module and Biomedical module, please email any BME advisor to schedule an advising appointment.

In person appointments are available.

Students will need to complete their general Orientation and a Chemical Engineering module prior to meeting with their advisor. If you indicated interest in Chemical Engineering during Orientation, you should have received an email from Megan McAllister inviting you to the Chemical Engineering Module and directing you how to make an appointment.

If you have changed your major to Chemical Engineering or cannot find her email, please email advisor Megan McAllister at megan.mcallister@utah.edu to gain access to the CHEME module.

In addition to completing the general Orientation modules, students will need to complete a department specific Canvas module and then meet with an academic advisor.

Join the Civil & Environmental Engineering Orientation Module. If you have not done so already, you will be instructed how to make an appointment with your advisor at the end of the module.

You should have received an email to your umail with instructions on how to access the Computer Science/Data Science canvas course. If recently decided on majoring in Computer/Data Science or cannot locate the email that was sent from your CS advisors instructing you on next steps, please email ugrad-help@cs.utah.edu to gain access to the Orientation modules. Upon completing your Computer Science/Data Science Orientation module, you will be informed on how to make an appointment with your advisor.”

Scholarship Opportunities

College of Engineering Transfer Scholarship (for students starting in Spring 2022): This scholarship helps to encourage and support transfer students from other colleges and universities.

    • Opens: September 21
    • Closes: December 15

To apply: Visit Academic Works, fill out the general University of Utah Scholarship application (indicate interest in the College of Engineering), and then search for the “College of Engineering Transfer Scholarship.”
