Elementary Engineering Week


February 18 – 21, 2020
Audience: 5th and 6th grade students

A FREE program and an excellent opportunity to engage older elementary students (grades 5 – 6) in the practical application of engineering concepts and scientific principles.

This event was created with the following goals in mind:

  • To introduce students to the field of engineering and the University of Utah.
  • To encourage continued interest in math and science.
  • To share this experience with students from as many different schools as possible.

Audience: 9th – 12th grade students

Design and invention are daily activities for engineers in industry as well as faculty and students in the College of Engineering at the University of Utah.

At this event, participants will learn from people involved in the design process about where they got their ideas and how they turned their ideas into reality.

Check in will begin at 6:30 pm, and the keynote speaker will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.

Parents are invited to attend.

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a once a year event that invites middle and high school students to compete in a variety of STEM disciplines. It’s an exciting way to bring life science and engineering applications while building teamwork and problem solving skills.

Registration for 2019 is Now Open

Engineering Day is a half-day event open to high school students, undecided majors, parents, transfer students, and anyone interested in engineering at the U. This event is FREE and is designed to introduce participants to a variety of engineering disciplines.

Participants will have the opportunity to tour our engineering facilities, find out what research is happening in the College, and attend exciting engineering presentations/demonstrations. Participants are required to register for sessions online.

Lab tour space is limited thus presentations and demonstrations will be going on concurrently.

Due to capacity limitations: Registration for this event is open only to high school students, their parents, and prospective transfer students.

Parents are welcome to attend but do not need to register. Special parent sessions are available.
