Eric G. Eddings, professor of chemical engineering, was recently awarded an honorary doctoral degree by the University of Miskolc in Hungary during the opening ceremony for their new academic year. He was awarded the degree “in recognition of his outstanding attainment of international excellence in the use of solid and liquid fuels in practical combustion engineering systems and the development of theoretical and experimental methods of combustion engineering by means of modeling contaminant formation.”

The University of Miskolc is located in the city of Miskolc, which is a large industrial city in northeastern Hungary. The university originated as the Mining and Metallurgical School of Selmecbanya, and was established in the year 1735. It was the first mining and metallurgical institution of higher education in Europe. Eddings has been visiting and lecturing at the university since 2004.
