Gianluca Lazzi, professor and chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the U, has been elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows. The AIMBE College of Fellows represent the top 2% of medical and biological engineers nationwide. Lazzi will be inducted into the College of Fellows at AIMBE’s 2014 Annual Event, March 23-25, 2014, in Washington, DC at the National Academy of Sciences.
Founded in 1991, AIMBE serves to advocate on issues impacting the medical and biological engineering community. The society played a pivotal role in helping to establish the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering at the National Institutes of Health. Fellows participate in the Food and Drug Administration’s Network of Experts, leveraging their scientific expertise to improve the regulatory pathways that lead to innovations.
