They came, they built, and they catapulted. But mostly, the scores of elementary school students who arrived at the University of Utah for this year’s Elementary Engineering Week had fun.
This year’s event, designed to introduce fifth and sixth graders to the wonderful world of engineering and technology, was a great success at the university’s A. Ray Olpin Union Building and involved students from all over Utah. This year’s Elementary Engineering Week was held from March 1 through March 3.
Students who attended constructed towers made of straws, built catapults from wood and assembled mechanical clay fish. The event was sponsored by Phillips 66. See below for a gallery of photos from the week’s activities.
