Apparently, it didn’t take long for the organizer of this spring’s Engineering Club Rush to run out of pizza.

“We definitely had a lot more people come in than last spring,” said event organizer Amanda May, who also is the diversity and retention coordinator for the University of Utah’s College of Engineering. “We ran out of pizza for everyone before it was over.”

The biannual event, held Thursday Jan. 21 in the Catmull Gallery of the Warnock Engineering Building, was another resounding success as a large group of engineering students visited the three-hour event to learn more about the clubs looking for members.

Some of the clubs on hand included the U chapters of the Society of Women Engineers, the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. The event also is held in the fall.

While the Engineering Club Rush is a good opportunity to meet the local chapters of these organizations, students interested in joining a club can still go to the College of Engineering’s student organization webpage at www.coe.utah.edu/student_orgs to learn more.
